Tbilisi Mayor Kaladze: Georgians recognise reality, analyse and make right choices

Incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze believes the majority of Georgia’s population, recognising double standards both abroad and at home, accurately analyses the situation and makes the right decisions, evidenced, for example, by their conduct during last year’s parliamentary elections.

The incumbent mayor made this statement in response to a journalist’s question about reports suggesting that Giorgi Kldiashvili, head of the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), owns a business with Russian citizens.

“Don’t be surprised, this is a common double standard. We can point to many examples, from European leaders to domestic radicals. It’s a widespread phenomenon. The most important thing is that the majority of our people see the reality, analyse it correctly, and, when necessary, make the right decisions, just as they did during the October parliamentary elections.

The Georgian people will do the same in the upcoming local elections. When the public perceives that certain politicians or parties serve other interests, be it foreign or domestic, at the expense of our country’s well-being, they respond accordingly,” Kaladze concluded.
