Tbilisi Mayor: Georgia will do everything to bolster relations with China
“Georgia will do everything possible to further strengthen these relations with China. Some statements from specific congressmen are based on falsehoods and contain slander,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated.
Kaladze commented on the planned hearing at the U.S. Helsinki Commission, where Salome Zourabichvili, Tinatin Khidasheli, and Luke Coffey are invited as witnesses. The Commission’s statement noted that “Georgia was once a core U.S. partner and a beacon of freedom in the Caucasus. Today, the ruling Georgian Dream party is dragging the country back into Russia’s orbit and deepening their relationship with China and other U.S. adversaries.”
“The whole of Georgia knows who these people are, what they represent, and who they are fighting against. As for China, strategic relations with this country are very important. Many states around the world strive to have friendly ties with China. It is crucial to use the opportunities that China offers. Georgia will do everything possible to further strengthen these relations and bring our economies closer. Some statements from specific congressmen are based on falsehoods and contain slander,” Kaladze said.
He added that the recent letter published by the President reflects Georgia’s spirit and main goal — “to start relations from a new page.”
