Tbilisi Mayor: Georgia never to be governed from abroad; opposition has no support; October 4 vote confirms this
“It should not be surprising that Bokeria and Baramidze were at the British Embassy and were probably receiving directives from their superiors,” incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze responded to the meeting held by opposition representatives Gia Baramidze and Giga Bokeria at the British Embassy.
Kaladze noted that the local diplomatic corps encourages the division and confrontation of society in the country.
“When we speak about the involvement of local diplomats and their connection with these violent groups, naturally, the British Embassy is one of the leaders in all of this, encouraging the division of society in the country, confrontation, and attempts to stage a revolution. It should not be surprising that Bokeria and Baramidze were at the British Embassy and were probably receiving directives from their superiors,” the Tbilisi mayor noted.
Kakha Kaladze also responded to the statement made by British MP James McClure regarding the possible sanctioning of Georgian Dream honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili and the release of those detained at protest rallies.
“How many times should you sanction Bidzina Ivanishvili? Those statements and examples you speak of are absolutely all based on lies, falsehood and slander. This is today’s regrettable reality. Which one is a political prisoner? The one who threw Molotov cocktails at a policeman or hit him with a stick and threw stones? I really watch and see everything that happens. A young person approaches a policeman who stands and protects public order and throws a Molotov cocktail at him, attempts to burn people alive, and you come out wanting them to be considered heroes, while I am looking at events one-sidedly? These are the same people; what don’t you understand?
These local lackeys have their masters. Our partner is the Georgian people, and no one should think that this country should be governed from outside. We will never accept this. This country is governed by the Georgian people. As for the statements by MEPs, people of various positions, representatives of the same Britain, whose example you cited, they are based on falsehood, lies and slander,” Kakha Kaladze declared.
The incumbent Tbilisi Mayor went on to say that “Statements by some European bureaucrats, when they insist that white is black, are based on lies and damage the European Union itself.”
Kaladze responded to statements made by high-ranking EU officials regarding the detention of one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Droa’s Elene Khoshtaria, in which they call her a political prisoner.
According to Kakha Kaladze, all this is political speculation.
“This is ordinary political speculation, filth that we see from these bureaucrats. Their statements are based on lies and damage the European Union. How can a person assertively say that white is black? Unfortunately, this is not the first case, and society evaluates everything well. Everyone sees that enormous amounts of money have been spent over the years creating violent groups that exist in the country.
All of this is financed from outside. They have their masters, both inside the country in the form of some diplomats, and from outside. Everything bad that happens in the country, hatred, violence, attempts to confront society, is financed by external forces,” Kakha Kaladze declared.
Regarding the opposition’s chances in local elections, according to the Tbilisi mayor, they serve the interests of another country, which is why they have no place in the country’s politics.
“You see what support the opposition has and what condition they are in. They have no support or resources from the population to win. On October 4, they will definitely be defeated in all electoral districts. The Georgian people will pass another verdict on them. They are agents and serve the interests of another country. Naturally, such political parties have no place in the country’s politics,” Kakha Kaladze noted.
