Tbilisi Mayor asserts no revolution in Georgia amidst faux protests
“This is not the first instance in which claims of radicalism have emerged. A similar situation arose during the discourse surrounding the Transparency Law; it was nothing more than an artificial protest,” stated Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi.
The Mayor emphasized that while individuals have the right to express their dissent in various forms, any movement rooted in radicalism is destined to fail.
“This is a phoney protest. When dissent is based on falsehoods, no revolution will occur in our country. Instead, we will continue to enjoy peace, foster economic development, and progress towards joining the EU with dignity. We are committed to defending our people’s national interests,” he asserted.
“This is not the first time we heard allegations of radicalism. The same situation occurred regarding the Transparency Law; it was, indeed, a phoney protest. Radicalism is always fated to fail. While everyone has the right to protest in different forms, it must be done within the framework of the law,” Kaladze reiterated.
