Tbilisi City Court sentences Giorgi Mindadze to five years for assaulting police during Tbilisi rallies
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has announced the conviction of Giorgi Mindadze, who was sentenced to five years in prison for attacking police officers during a protest rally in Tbilisi. Official evidence, including video footage, confirmed that on November 29, 2024, on April 9 Street, Mindadze fired pyrotechnics at officers from the Special Assignment Department, who were stationed there to maintain public order. The pyrotechnics hit one of the law enforcement officers in the leg area, causing burns,” the agency’s statement read.
After reviewing the evidence, the court found Giorgi Mindadze guilty under Article 353 Prima, Part 1 of Georgia’s Criminal Code—assaulting law enforcement in connection with official duties—which carries a sentence of 4 to 7 years.
“Tbilisi City Court found the defendant fully guilty of the charges presented and sentenced him to five years imprisonment,” the agency’s information stated.
