Tbilisi City Court orders imprisonment for former Defence Ministry officials

Tbilisi City Court has ruled to imprison former Deputy Defence Minister Giorgi Khaindrava, ex-head of the procurement department Vladimer Ghudushauri, and Vasil Mkheidze, a relative of former Minister Juansher Burchuladze.

The pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 17. The prosecution has requested detention, citing concerns over potential evidence destruction, pressure on witnesses, and the risk of reoffending.

The defence team has appealed for the defendants’ release on bail set at GEL 100,000.

These three former officials of the Georgian Ministry of Defence face charges of embezzlement of state funds: Giorgi Khaindrava and Vladimer Ghudushauri for embezzlement, and Vasil Mkeidze for conspiracy to commit embezzlement.
