Tbilisi City Court keeps 11 Individuals in detention on group violence charges

The Tbilisi City Court has upheld the detention of actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, and nine other individuals charged with participating in group violence during protest rallies.

At today’s hearing, the court reviewed and maintained the previously imposed detention measures against the accused.

The defense lawyers proposed various amounts of bail and personal guarantees as alternative measures. Some of the detained individuals deny the charges, while others are exercising their right to remain silent.

During the proceedings, three of the detained – Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, and Rezo Kiknadze – exercised their right to address the court.

The accused are charged under Article 225, Part 2 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which pertains to participation in group violence. This offense carries a prison sentence of 4 to 6 years.
