Swiss Embassy: Note of Foreign Ministry handed over to Russian Federation Interests Section

The Embassy of Switzerland has already handed the note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia about expelling Russian diplomat over to the Russian Federation Interests Section – the Swiss Embassy told the First Channel in that regard.

As stated in the Embassy, the above mentioned request will not have any impact on a Swiss mandate to represent Russia’s interests in Georgia and Georgia’s interests in Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares a member of the staff of the Russian Federation Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi as a not acceptable person and requests to leave Georgia within 7 days, – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has released a statement today.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the use of chemical weapons on the territory of the United Kingdom that caused grave human suffering of three individuals and posed serious threat to life and health of others. This represents serious challenge to common security.

The Ministry expresses solidarity to the United Kingdom, shares the position of the United Kingdom as well as of international community on this matter and declares a member of the staff of the Russian Federation Interests Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi as a not acceptable person and requests to leave Georgia within 7 days”, – the statement of the Ministry reads.
