Subsidy scheme to be implemented in Racha-Lechkhumi region for Vintage 2025
To ensure the organised conduct of the 2025 harvest, the government has determined appropriate support measures for the Racha-Lechkhumi region.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, prioritising the development of viticulture and winemaking in the Racha-Lechkhumi region, as well as promoting the production of Khvanchkara wine with a protected designation of origin, remains a key focus.
“Within the framework of the Vintage 2025, subsidies will be received by all wine companies that purchase and process at least 3 tonnes of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grape varieties harvested in the Khvanchkara microzone and pay the winegrower at least GEL 8. In the Racha-Lechkhumi region, wine producers will receive state subsidies of GEL 4 per kilogram for Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes.
From 2026, the state will support the viticulture and winemaking sector in the Racha-Lechkhumi region within the framework of the harvest using a different approach. The quality of grapes will matter the most. By improving grape quality, the quality of Georgian wine will be significantly higher, which will make it even more competitive on the world market,” states the Ministry of Agriculture.
