Strong Georgia's Khazaradze accuses opposition parties of participating in GD's message box

“When you criticize another opposition party, you must loudly declare where your funding comes from! I’m writing this here now because I failed to receive an answer to this question during a private meeting,” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of Strong Georgia coalition on Facebook.

Mamuka Khazaradze remarked on the stance expressed regarding state funding of political parties, noting that repeating the “Georgian Dream’s narrative” by some opposition members is nothing more than participating in the ruling party’s “message box and script.”

Khazaradze also added that party funding comes from the state budget and will immediately stop as soon as their mandate termination requests are satisfied.

Seven political unions will receive funding based on the results of the parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on December 26.

In accordance with the legislation, based on the results of the October 26 parliamentary elections, from November 26, the second day after the newly elected parliament was recognized as having powers, the following seven political unions have gained the right to receive state funding: Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia; United National Movement; Coalition for Change – Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa; Gakharia for Georgia; Lelo for Georgia; Alliance of Patriots of Georgia; New Political Center – Girchi.

According to the CEC, the Coalition for Change – Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa refused to receive funding.
