State Security Service – Special Services of foreign countries are trying to strengthen lobbyist groups

Special services of foreign countries acting across Georgia’s territory are trying to strengthen lobbyist groups, expand infrastructure of political influence, political unions, public organizations, foundations and manipulate with economic and energy mechanisms – reads the 2017 report of State Security Service, which is already presented in the parliament.

According to the report, Special Services of foreign countries are trying to establish expert or scientific-research centres and agencies to influence public opinion.

The State Security Service of Georgia has submitted an annual report to the parliament. The report was presented at the Bureau sitting on April 3. The document has been handed over to the Committee on Defense and Security, the Committee on Human Rights and the Legal Issues Committee for further discussion.

According to the Parliament’s regulations, the report of the State Security Service should be discussed within the format of the plenary sitting. After the discussion, Parliament will adopt a special resolution.
