State Language Department holds seminar on upholding literary norms

A seminar dedicated to adherence to literary norms was recently convened at the State Language Department.

According to the Department, the primary aim of the seminar was to equip attendees with the skills necessary for effective business correspondence, accurate public communication, and strict compliance with literary language standards.

During the seminar, participants explored the latest updates and revisions to the norms governing the Georgian literary language. Discussions also encompassed the rules for transcription and transliteration of sound systems from various languages into Georgian, as well as a range of specialised converters developed by the Department to facilitate this process.

These converters are designed to assist users in correctly using Georgian and foreign names of individuals and places, selecting appropriate grammatical forms, and avoiding common errors. Ultimately, they aim to enable clearer expression of thoughts and ensure precise communication.
