SSG: Georgia achieves significant progress in combating terrorism, maintaining zero-impact terrorism rate
The State Security Service of Georgia (SSG) has responded to the latest report from the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) regarding the Global Terrorism Index 2025.
According to the SSG, Georgia has made significant progress over the past decade, successfully maintaining a zero-impact terrorism rate.
“Georgia shares the last spot in the report with Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, and numerous other countries that report no incidence of terrorism. This indicates that no terrorist incidents occurred in Georgia in 2024, underscoring the country’s safe environment,” the SSG stated.
The index reveals that Georgia outperforms G7, EU, and NATO member states, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, and others.
Over the past ten years, Georgia has progressed in its fight against terrorism, improving its rating by 1.933 points to achieve the highest ranking.
“Georgia has successfully maintained a zero-impact terrorism rate in recent years,” the SSG emphasized.
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), a prominent international think tank, published the Global Terrorism Index 2025. With a score of 0, Georgia improved its ranking by six places, now standing at 100th—the last position among several nations with no impact from terrorism.
