Sports Minister to UFC President: Georgia is nation of champions, ready to host UFC event

“I informed UFC President Dana White of the decision by Georgia’s Prime Minister and government that the country is ready to host one of UFC’s events,” Georgia’s Minister of Sports, Shalva Gogoladze, declared.

He stated that during his meeting with Dana White in the United States, they discussed the ongoing development of Georgia’s sports infrastructure. Shalva Gogoladze emphasised that modern sports complexes are planned for all 64 municipalities, each incorporating new MMA halls.

“I had the honour of meeting with UFC President Dana White,” Gogoladze stated. “The meeting lasted approximately one hour and was organised by Georgian businessman Davit Natroshvili, one of UFC’s main partners and sponsors. I shared with Dana White the progress we’ve made in building modern sports complexes in all 64 municipalities of Georgia, which will include new MMA halls.”

He further highlighted Georgia’s sporting achievements, noting that this sport enjoys great popularity in Georgia, with a total of seven champions, two of whom are Georgian.

“Georgia is a country of champions, excelling not only in UFC but across various sports,” Gogoladze said. “I invited Dana White to visit our homeland of champions.”

Gogoladze also shared that the Georgian government, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, has decided that Georgia is ready to host a UFC event. This decision has received positive feedback from the UFC organisation. The Minister mentioned an upcoming MMA World Championship in September, which will serve as a test for Georgia’s ability to host major international events.

“We are beginning ongoing discussions with the UFC organisation to prepare for hosting such an event,” Gogoladze concluded.
