A new, modern-standard sports complex has been inaugurated in Zugdidi, in the Samegrelo region, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.
Constructed by the Ministry’s Municipal Development Fund, the facility features three swimming pools, along with fitness and weightlifting halls. All areas are equipped with dressing rooms and showers.
“The sports complex, with its modern infrastructure, will attract visitors of all ages and interests, fostering a healthy and active lifestyle,” the Ministry stated.
The complex features heating, air conditioning, and fire safety systems, as well as an outdoor café and shop. It offers parking for up to 100 cars and three buses, and has been fully adapted to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
The project, costing up to GEL 27 million, was financed through a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with co-financing from the government.
“This initiative is part of the Livable Cities Investment Project for Balanced Development (LCIP-PRF), which aims to build four sports complexes. Similar facilities are operational in Rustavi, Kutaisi, and Zugdidi, with the construction of the Akhaltsikhe complex nearing completion,” the Ministry added.
