Speaker: When embassies speak on ‘politicized justice,’ remember who criticizes us
“As today, in the future, when we see coordinated, slanderous flash mobs from some foreign embassies about ‘politicized justice,’ let us remember who is criticizing us,” wrote Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, on social media.
Papuashvili’s remarks come in response to former Polish Prosecutor General and Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro receiving political asylum in Hungary, citing that he “has become a target of Donald Tusk and his entourage.”
The Speaker also referenced the upcoming hearing in the case of Marine Le Pen at the Paris Court of Appeal, scheduled for tomorrow, where the court will decide whether Le Pen can participate in the 2027 French presidential elections.
Papuashvili emphasized that, despite repeated rulings from Strasbourg rejecting claims of “politicization” of the Georgian judiciary as unfounded and slanderous, no foreign politician or diplomat has apologized to the Georgian judges who were deliberately targeted.
“For your information, Strasbourg has repeatedly denounced all accusations of the ‘politicization’ of the Georgian judiciary as unfounded and slanderous. Yet, to date, no foreign politician or diplomat has apologized to those Georgian judges who were the targets of a deliberate political attack. They deserve an apology,” he wrote.
