Speaker urges foreigners to exercise responsibility with their finances and meetings
“I urge all foreigners to exercise responsibility with their finances and meetings. Personally, I do not intend to hold meetings with terrorists or extremists and will ensure it is made clear,” said the Chairman of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
According to him, there is an internal terrorist group in the country whose aim is to overthrow the government through violence.
“We observe that there is virtually no support for the opposition. Instead, there is a marginalised group of individuals characterised by hysteria, fear-mongering, violence, and insults. What President Trump refers to as domestic terrorism describes this group perfectly; they become emotional at night and are seen moving through the streets. Fortunately, by morning, they are calm, as we say, allowing the city and the country to live in peace.
This group is a domestic terrorist organisation whose declared aim is to overthrow the government through violence. They have openly stated that they refuse to follow the democratic process. A significant portion of them were formally excluded from participating in elections; they do not vote, while others formally participate, although this is also part of their plan. They do not have hope for popular support. Yet, it is precisely these nightly disturbances that reveal their true intentions; they are driven by an ideology similar to that of Charlie Kirk’s murderer.
We observed their reactions: among them, what their responses to this murder were, whether they cheered and were happy. This is the same terrorist ideology that is currently causing problems for the United States. Therefore, nothing can be ruled out when it comes to these domestic terrorists. Consequently, society must remain vigilant,” said Papuashvili.
As Papuashvili observed, the EU ambassador does not address the Georgian people’s questions regarding where and why EU funds have been spent.
“We are closely monitoring the contact between foreigners and these radicals. Every ambassador, every foreign national who shakes hands with them at their embassy, invites them to their home for dinner or supper, any action that normalises radicals and extremists will be considered complicit if any violent acts are carried out by these domestic terrorist groups.
Once again, I would like to urge all foreigners in Georgia, whether on diplomatic or non-diplomatic missions, not to evade their responsibility this time. We remember the violent attacks on the police, arson, among other things, by the NGOs they funded in December last year. We still recall the silence that followed. Not a single individual has condemned this violence, this domestic terrorism, which is now coming to light. From the investigation, we also understand that EU funds were used to finance these domestic terrorists. To date, we have not received a single statement from the EU Ambassador.
The Georgian people are concerned and questioning how EU funds have been used. The EU Ambassador is currently concealed within his embassy and is not responding to the public’s inquiries. He has refused to explain how and why EU money was allocated to these violent groups.
Therefore, I urge all foreigners to exercise responsibility with their finances and their communication. Personally, I have no intention of holding meetings with terrorists, radicals, or extremists, and this stance will be made clear every time,” said Papuashvili.
