Speaker urges EU Ambassador to tone down his approach with Georgian journalists
“I call on the EU ambassador to lower his tone when addressing Georgian journalists; no one should behave in this manner,” said the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.
Referring to the EU Ambassador’s communication with Imedi TV at the Saudi Arabia National Day event, Papuashvili emphasised that, regardless of the nature of the questions posed, no one should raise their voice or adopt an aggressive tone with journalists.
“It is quite surprising how nervous the EU ambassador has appeared. I would like him to communicate with journalists properly and respectfully. No one would accept such a confrontational tone from a Georgian journalist, even when faced with critical questions. If the EU ambassador genuinely considers this behaviour acceptable, then I must say it is unacceptable, and I strongly urge him to tone down,” added Papuashvili.
