Speaker: Tamar Taliashvili receives U.S. presidential agrément, offering hope for Georgia-U.S. relations reset
“I congratulate Tamar Taliashvili on her appointment as Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States. Significantly, she was granted the agrément from the U.S. presidential administration,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.
According to Papuashvili, this development offers hope for optimism that the relationship between Georgia and the United States can be reset.
“First and foremost, I want to congratulate Tamar Taliashvili on her appointment. Many remember her as a former colleague in parliament, where she enjoyed a successful career. Before that, she worked effectively within the Sakrebulo (City Council) and later served in the Council of Europe. Importantly, Georgia will now be represented in the United States by an ambassador. This opens the door to the possibility of restoring and strengthening our relations. We remain committed to the long-standing proposal for a genuine strategic partnership with the United States—one grounded in the mutual national interests of both countries. In this regard, Tamar Taliashvili is an exemplary candidate for the position of ambassador. I am pleased that she will serve as Georgia’s representative in the United States,” Papuashvili stated.
