“At the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), we will meet European colleagues and representatives of European parliaments to discuss regional security challenges,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili.
According to the Speaker, parliamentary delegations from 130 countries, approximately 2000 delegates will participate in the Assembly.
He remarked that Georgia always used the opportunity to speak to colleagues in similar formats to “strengthen non-recognition policy.”
“We will meet with European colleagues, and representatives of European parliaments to discuss ongoing security challenges in the region, to speak about peaceful goals that are significant to end the war in Ukraine, and about the challenges to give the right direction to economic cooperation.
Considering that this Assembly takes place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, it is significant to highlight Georgia’s role as a transit country in the modern world amid new opportunities that are shaping today,” he said.
The Speaker said he would deliver a speech in the Uzbekistani parliament.
“On the one hand, it is significant to uphold traditional, friendly relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan focusing on joint economic interests, for economic cooperation and full utilization of Georgia’s potential as connector corridor between Europe and Asia,” he stated.
