Speaker: Principal fraud by Brussels is false accusations; wherever they challenge Georgia in international courts, they lose

Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has stated that the document prepared on Georgia under the OSCE’s Moscow Mechanism is defamatory and built entirely on hearsay.

“The fact is, the document as a whole is defamatory; it admits as much itself, acknowledging that it is based on hearsay. The document itself states that it contains accounts, for instance, on the subject of torture: ‘one individual told us that when he was arrested, taken to a police station, stripped, and made to lie on the floor.’ Go and verify that now. Evidence is one thing; story is another. Based on the story, we were told that two people were on hunger strike, entire news segments were constructed around the accounts of two people, claiming that people were starving, three of them, including one Russian citizen. It turned out they were not on hunger strike at all; they were eating and drinking normally, and had even engaged in some sort of quarrel or altercation among themselves, as evidenced by the footage we saw. This entire report is built on that kind of testimony. We intend to follow the Georgian Constitution and Georgian law,” Papuashvili told journalists.

According to Papuashvili, whenever Georgia has faced challenges in international courts, including those brought by certain European powers, they have invariably been defeated.

“As for international courts: wherever Georgia has been challenged, including by certain European forces, they have lost in every single instance, without exception. In the Strasbourg court, Brussels was defeated in every single case, including those involving Saakashvili, Melia, Gvaramia, and Rustavi 2. Not a single one was successful. Brussels, whose sitting ambassador was visiting the Justice Minister with false demarches over Saakashvili, lost in Strasbourg against Georgia. They likewise lost in arbitration proceedings against Georgia over the fraudulent schemes arranged by the Lelo leadership. Lost in every arbitration. So if anyone is thinking of taking something to an international court, they should know they will lose every time,” Papuashvili has stated.

In Papuashvili’s view, this document serves solely to generate media buzz.

“They have compiled an extensive list: arrest this individual, detain that one, arrest another, detain yet another, and so on. Essentially, they have crafted a punitive document aimed at generating media buzz, detailing who is suing whom, where, and what actions are to be taken. It is a document that entirely lacks any coherent logic or legal foundation.

For instance, one suggestion is to invite an OSCE observation mission to oversee the upcoming elections. Naturally, and this goes without saying, some issues require no elaboration or reminder, least of all from the Polish government.

The core issue, the reason this case was orchestrated against Georgia, is that the laws must be repealed, the lawsuit withdrawn, and the prisoners released. But where is the list? I examined the document carefully, hoping there might be an annex, a list of those to be released. It merely states, “release the prisoners, especially politicians.” I would like to know: is Aleko Elisashvili to be released? Is there a terrorist on that list? Someone facing charges of committing a terrorist act? Why do they not produce this list? We know only too well why, because the moment a single name is revealed, everyone will see that there is evidence of criminal conduct in every case.

The primary deception that Brussels and the European Union are currently perpetrating against Georgia is the propagation of false accusations, presented in the vaguest possible terms. For instance, when the subject of poisoning came up, this document also notes, ‘perhaps you might investigate.’ Certainly, but who prevented this lady from looking into it herself? Four months ago, the Georgian government offered to share the findings of its investigation and stated that if any relevant international organisation had questions, they were welcome to approach us, and we would provide them with full disclosure. Do you know how many came? Not one. Why? Because they have nothing to say, Brussels and the European Union are lying about the Georgian people.

They cannot name a single political prisoner, because in every case the evidence exists. What else can they say? Incidentally, I notice that Aleko Elisashvili is again appearing alongside Lelo, so once again today we can state that within Lelo’s ranks and its coalition sits a party whose chairman faces charges of committing a terrorist act. It is self-discrediting for Lelo and its European umbrella organisation, ALDE, to have a party whose leader is charged with terrorism within their own coalition. I have called on them repeatedly to distance themselves; they have not done so. And so ALDE is today a European grouping of parties within whose ranks stands a person charged with terrorism. All of this is one grand swindle. The sole objective is to generate media noise, a pseudo-judicial process, various appeals, stuffed with absolute absurdities and entirely detached from any evidence,” Papuashvili stated.
