Speaker praises Slovakia’s step towards restoring European values; common sense to prevail
“Slovakia has taken a significant step towards restoring European values within the European Union. Common sense must prevail everywhere,” emphasises Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, in a post on social media.
Papuashvili responded to the recent constitutional amendments passed by the Slovak Parliament.
“When basic common sense needs to be safeguarded by law, these issues often arise from the minority imposing its dictate on the majority. Slovakia’s move marks an important step in restoring European principles within the Union. Common sense must prevail everywhere,” he wrote.
The Slovak Parliament on Friday approved constitutional amendments that recognise only two genders, male and female, and prohibit adoption by unmarried couples, as well as surrogacy.
