Speaker Papuashvili hails substantive U.S. visit focused on real bilateral issues, not fictional ideologies

“I welcome the fact that the visit from the representative of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Europe and Eurasia carried real substance; it addressed genuine issues in our bilateral relations rather than fictional topics,” stated the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

He noted that under the previous administration, meaningful cooperation was sidelined in favour of allegiance to invented ideologies.

“During the previous government, it seemed as though gender identity issues were at the heart of what connected Georgians and Americans, as if our strategic partnership depended solely on whether Georgia recognised a man as a woman and vice versa. The previous administration raised this issue at the highest levels, and regrettably, Brussels has echoed it. Genuine avenues of cooperation were pushed aside, with loyalty to fabricated ideologies becoming the measure of partnership. I am pleased to see that the current approach is much more pragmatic and substantive.

This visit was focused on economic matters, and it gives us reason to be optimistic that a true strategic partnership between our countries will be founded on mutual interests, rather than on artificial, false ideals that do not reflect reality. These ideas are often fabricated to impose control and subjugate smaller nations. We remain hopeful, including regarding the outcomes of this visit.

At the same time, we would like to see a faster pace in our journey towards establishing a genuine strategic alliance. We are committed to this goal; the rest is in the hands of the American administration,” concluded Shalva Papuashvili.
