“The main findings as per the final report of the October 26 Georgian parliamentary elections published by the OSCE/ODIHR, as expected, comply with the Georgian Dream’s assessments and the criteria of competitive and free elections,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili at the briefing.
According to the Speaker, the final report should end “harmful speculations” over the elections. In the Speaker’s words, it is important that the OSCE/ODIHR mission expresses readiness to cooperate with the Georgian elected government to further improve the election environment and procedures.
Shalva Papuashvili remarked that the report praises the election administration for well-organized and administered elections, whereas the election process in over 90% was evaluated as positive.
The report highlights that the participation of foreign observers created an energetic observation environment.
The Speaker remarked that the report expresses criticism over the polarized political environment and political bias of media outlets.
Shalva Papuashvili touched on the report’s passage which says that President Salome Zourabichvili “actively participated in the election campaign.”
Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said the report mentions the “paradoxical behaviour” of the ISFED, which refused to publish the results of Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT).
Shalva Papuashvili concluded by saying that the report reveals false allegations of the radical opposition, “which has been attempting to declare the elections as rigged” for the last two months. He said the radicals “were caught in 5 lies” over which they “built a revolutionary scenario.”
1. Unopened polling stations in foreign countries; 2. Approximately 300.000 forged votes; 3. Repeatedly cast ballots with one ID document; 4. Russian special operation; 5. Vote Secrecy.
