Speaker engages with youth to discuss parliamentarianism and governance
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili recently met with a group of school students to discuss the history of parliamentarianism in Georgia, the role of the parliament, and the country’s governance system.
“We talked about the nation’s journey and the evolution of parliamentarianism. It’s essential for young people to understand the parliament’s role and how citizens can engage with it,” the Speaker noted.
Papuashvili also emphasized the importance of reforms in education and sports development, as well as paid internship programs designed for youth. Following his presentation, he took time to answer students’ questions.
Vice Speaker Nino Tsilosani organized the meeting as part of the Women’s Stories Month campaign in March. Tsilosani underscored the new opportunities available for women, stating, “We will continue our efforts to ensure that girls have the environment and opportunities necessary to realize their potential.”
The school students received the Constitution of Georgia as gifts. Deputy Chairs of the Georgian Dream faction, Greta Tsitsava and Rima Beridze attended the meeting.
