Speaker: Elections in 12 weeks; Commissioner’s stance marks Brussels’ first interference in Georgia’s polls

“Local self-government elections will be held in 12 weeks. Let’s mark the EU Commissioner’s position on the European Parliament resolution as Brussels’ first interference in Georgia’s elections in this electoral cycle, aimed at disrupting them,” Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili writes on social media.

As he notes, local self-government elections will be held in 12 weeks.

“The European Parliament adopted yesterday’s resolution, which instructs the radical opposition not to participate in local self-government elections, with the participation of Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and against the backdrop of her compliments toward the resolution’s author, MEP Rasa Juknevičienė.

Local self-government elections will be held in 12 weeks.
Let’s mark the EU Commissioner’s position on the European Parliament resolution as Brussels’ first interference in Georgia’s elections in this electoral cycle, this time aimed at disrupting them, which is equivalent to an attempt to deprive Georgian citizens of their electoral rights,” Papuashvili writes.
