Speaker: Defending sanctions is our goodwill; Brussels’ response with funded propaganda reveals Soviet attitude
“Brussels’ reaction to our defence of the sanctions regime with orchestrated propaganda exposes their Soviet-era mindset,” wrote Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, on social media.
As Papuashvili emphasised, Georgia does not have bilateral sanctions against Russia, and preventing the circumvention of sanctions imposed by the European Union is not an obligation but an act of goodwill on Georgia’s part.
“When Brussels responds to this goodwill with attacks from hired ‘NGOs’, it primarily exposes their Soviet attitude towards Georgia’s independence. That’s their way of saying, ‘Thank you,’” he added.
