Speaker deems conducting intelligence activities in friend country as shameful
“It is a shame when you call a country your friend and conduct intelligence there,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in connection with the case of Giorgi Udzilauri, arrested on spying charges.
According to the Speaker, the call of Mamuka Mdinaradze, State Minister for Coordination with law enforcement agencies for European countries to stop similar activities was significant.
He said releasing one segment of the video footage into Udzilauri’s case “was necessary” to demonstrate how the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) works.
“Yesterday we heard the statement of Mamuka Mdinaradze, State Minister for Coordination with law enforcement agencies, that the case has to do with several European countries, which conduct intelligence activities in a partner, friendly country, which is a shame.
It is a shame when you call a country your friend and conduct intelligence there. Therefore, the statement of Mamuka Mdinaradze calling on European countries to stop similar activities was significant, since the State Security Service possesses all technical and human resources to reveal all such facts,” he said.
