Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili congratulated Georgian citizens on First Constitution Day, as a “significant date for Georgian statehood.”
According to the Speaker, Georgia’s Constitution adopted in 1921 by the Constituent Assembly, reflects the ruling elite and progressiveness of the Georgian society, its being European and democratic.
“The acting Constitution of Georgia fully shares the spirit of its predecessor, and with the 2017 amendments, it has become one of the most advanced, truly European documents of state organization and human rights protection. Such a constitution determines the necessary conditions for the development of our country, a protected and legal environment,” he said.
