Speaker condemns election sabotage as violation of Georgia’s Constitution and international law
“Anyone who attempts to encourage or orchestrate sabotage is in clear violation of Georgia’s Constitution and international law. This is a form of political aggression that we have been witnessing recently,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, addressing journalists.
According to Papuashvili, acts of election sabotage and efforts to disrupt the electoral process constitute serious breaches of legal and constitutional norms.
“I want to address everyone, both within Georgia and beyond, to emphasise that any attempt to sabotage or disrupt the elections is a direct violation of the Georgian Constitution and our national legislation. Such actions expose a profound collapse of values among some individuals in Europe and certain puppets in Tbilisi, who oppose democratic elections. They seek to deny citizens their fundamental right to choose their own representatives and self-governance. This constitutes a severe obstacle to the will of the Georgian people and undermines the very foundation of our democracy. These acts are not only violations of our Constitution and laws but also contravene international standards; they represent an attack on Georgian democracy itself.
Therefore, anyone who encourages or organises election sabotage violates international law. This pattern of political aggression is something we have been witnessing increasingly in recent times,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
