National Movement has begun another dirty campaign with the assistance of Rustavi 2 in order to tell a lie to our citizens living abroad and create false evidence for discrediting the forthcoming elections, – Sophio Katsarava, Chairperson of Foreign Relations Committee, said at a briefing.

According to Katsarava, National Movement has created special groups in various cities around the world, which contact the Georgian citizens residing abroad on behalf of Georgian consulates and embassies and promise them to provide assistance in getting asylum abroad in return for voting for the Georgian Dream.

“In addition, they spread false information, as if the consulate has already cast ballot papers in the ballot boxes instead of them,” Katsarava said. According to her, despite the National Movement’s disinformation campaign, election processes both inside the country and abroad are in full compliance with the law.

MP Zviad Kvachantiradze called on residents living abroad to check any similar case through the hotline of the embassies and consulates. He also called on law enforcers to immediately investigate the alleged fraudulent scheme to punish the perpetrators.
