Serbian FM: We shall always remember His Holiness Ilia II’s spiritual mission and tireless efforts in cause of preservation of spiritual values

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić has sent a letter of condolence to Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, on the passing of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.

In his letter, Minister Đurić expressed that in this hour of profound grief, the Serbian people stand in deep solidarity with the people of Georgia and share in their sorrow.

“Your Excellency, it is with profound sadness that I received the news of the repose of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, allow me to extend my sincerest condolences and to ask you to convey our deepest sympathies to the Patriarchal Throne of Georgia, the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the clergy, the monastic communities, and the brotherly Georgian people.

We shall always remember his spiritual mission, his devotion to faith, peace and unity, and his tireless efforts in fostering mutual understanding, solidarity, and the preservation of spiritual values. In this hour of grief, the Serbian people share in your sorrow and extend their profound solidarity to the Georgian people.

I ask you, Your Excellency, to once again accept my deepest respect and heartfelt condolences,” reads the condolence letter.
