Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze has retained his position at the top of the world rankings.
Although the 32-year-old athlete did not compete at the Tunis Grand Prix, his closest rivals also failed to achieve notable results, allowing Bazadze to remain in first place.
Bazadze currently leads the rankings with 224,000 points. French fencer Jean-Philippe Patrice has accumulated the same number of points, but Bazadze holds the advantage based on additional ranking criteria.
Fencers ranked third through fifth trail the leading pair by a significant margin: France’s Sébastien Patrice is third with 178,000 points, followed by Hungary’s Krisztian Rabb with 173,000 points and Egypt’s Ahmed Hesham with 170,000 points.
Bazadze’s first competition of 2026 will be the World Cup event in Salt Lake City, USA, which begins on January 22.
