Saba Buadze resigns from leadership roles in Lelo over election disagreement

Saba Buadze, a member of the Lelo party, has announced his resignation from the position of Chairman of the Tbilisi organization and from the party’s political council. In a post on social media, Buadze explained that he strongly disagrees with the decision to participate in the upcoming local elections.

“Many have asked about my stance on the local elections. Now that the party’s position is public, I want to share mine: I believe participating in the elections under the current circumstances is a serious mistake. It contradicts the path we chose together when we gave up our parliamentary mandates,” Buadze wrote.

He emphasised that he finds it unacceptable to be complicit in what he sees as a wrong decision. Buadze also stated that he will remain an ordinary member of the party until Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze are released, calling their imprisonment politically motivated.

“The regime imprisoned them for their fight. That struggle will continue—until the end, until our unconditional victory,” he added.

Earlier today, it was announced that the coalition Lelo – Strong Georgia will participate in the local elections.
