Rustaveli Avenue’s Burchuladze reads “October 4 Declaration” and “Arrest List”; declares transition period in Georgia
The leader of the Rustaveli Avenue movement, Paata Burchuladze, delivered a speech in Freedom Square, during which he read the “October 4 National Assembly Declaration.”
“We, the citizens of Georgia, gathered here at the National Assembly, declare that our homeland has been usurped. The so-called government has lost the trust of the people, and the state institutions no longer reflect the will of the Georgian people. According to the Constitution of Georgia, the source of authority is the people. Today, the people are reclaiming their power from the usurper to safeguard peace, security, and national interests. Bidzina Ivanishvili’s informal rule has become a genuine threat to Georgia’s sovereignty and to every citizen.
In light of these facts, we put the following issues to a vote:
First – The National Assembly proclaims that sovereignty belongs entirely to the Georgian people;
Second – The National Assembly states that the so-called government, following the fraudulent elections of October 26 [2024 parliamentary elections] and lacking international recognition, has lost its constitutional legitimacy, and its authority is therefore terminated.
Third – The National Assembly declares a peaceful, transitional period designed to facilitate a peaceful transfer of power, restore democratic institutions, resume dialogue towards European Union accession, and safeguard the country’s security and peace,” Burchuladze affirmed.
Furthermore, Burchuladze called on those gathered to vote on a crucial matter concerning individuals whom he accused of bringing the country to its current state.
“We must cast a vote on one vital issue. As a first step, we need to decide on the six members of the Georgian Dream, the main villains who have led us to this point, and demand their immediate arrest and imprisonment: Irakli Kobakhidze, Shalva Papuashvili, Anzor Chubinidze, Mamuka Mdinaradze, Tea Tsulukiani, and Bidzina Ivanishvili,” he stated.
