Russian Embassy in the US responds to Russian cyber-attack on Georgia in October 2019. The statement released on the official Facebook page of the diplomatic service says they are disappointed, but they are not surprised by another accusation against Russia.

“It is regrettable that American diplomats, once famous for their high professionalism, are increasingly resorting to the methods of tabloid journalists in their work. The main thing for them is to make a splash.

It is deplorable that in the United States norms of international law are less and less remembered, according to them accusations against sovereign states must be accompanied by evidence.  The U.S. and the West in general today prefer to use the so-called “rule-based order” when speculations supported by a sufficient number of “allies and partners” are presented as “the ultimate truth “, – the statement reads.

As statement notes, Russia is ready for an expert dialogue on all pressing issues of the international agenda.

Georgian Foreign Ministry announced on February 20 that the cyber-attack of 28 October, 2019 against Georgian websites was planned and carried out by the Main Division of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo responded to the fact and released a statement. “The United States condemns Russian cyberattack against the country of Georgia and calls on Russia to cease this behavior in Georgia and elsewhere”, -the statement reads.  The British and several other foreign Ministries also responded to the fact.

Back in October of 2019, the attack knocked thousands of websites offline, including those of the president, local government officials and television channels.
