Revenue Service confirms international sanctions do not apply to ship docked in Batumi Port

The Revenue Service has affirmed that international sanctions do not pertain to either the vessel flying the Liberian flag, its owner, or the cargo being transported.

According to the Service, the vessel HISTORIA DIONE arrived at Batumi Port on November 3 from Burgas, Bulgaria. It was carrying approximately 30,000 tonnes of petrol fuel sourced from a Russian company, subject to transit procedures for onward shipment to Armenia as the intended recipient country.

“The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency coordinate efforts and conduct ongoing inspections of ships and shipowners in relation to international sanctions. If a ship or its owner is listed on the sanctions list, it is prohibited from entering Georgian ports or undergoing customs procedures,” the Revenue Service stated.
