Registration opens for over 21,000 state-funded vocational education places across Georgia
Registration for vocational education programmes has officially opened on the national vocational education portal, vet.ge, and will run through to 9 October, the Education Management Information System (EMIS) has announced.
For the autumn 2026 intake, admission is open across 568 vocational programmes, including 37 secondary vocational tracks that fully integrate complete general upper-secondary learning outcomes. A total of 21,372 places have been allocated across 80 accredited vocational institutions nationwide.
“During registration, applicants may select up to three preferred vocational programmes and amend their choices at any point until the deadline.
“Eligibility extends to individuals holding either a basic secondary or complete general education certificate. Applicants must also meet the specific entry prerequisites for each program, which vary by type and level.
Under current data guidelines within the Education Management Information System, individuals maintaining active vocational student status face restrictions on registering for new programmes, unless their current course concludes before the start of the new academic cycle,” EMIS noted.
The government fully fund tuition at state-established vocational colleges. For programmes run by private providers, state funding vouchers are allocated in line with strategic priorities set by the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.
Eligible beneficiaries for state funding include Georgian citizens; foreign nationals with registered status as compatriots living abroad; asylum seekers, refugees, and individuals holding humanitarian status.
Funding provisions also apply to stateless vocational students in Georgia who are currently in, or were previously under, state care (including foster care, small group homes, and shelters). To access these benefits, the institution must submit a formal application alongside supporting documentation directly to EMIS.
Furthermore, under the Defence Code of Georgia, enrolled vocational students are eligible for a one-time deferment from national military service until they complete their programme, provided they have not previously used this right.
The selection process will run from 12 October to 8 November, conducted in accordance with requirements and procedures set by individual institutions and programmes.
Selection for higher vocational education programmes will be determined by standardised testing organised by the National Assessment and Examinations Centre (NAEC). Examinations in natural sciences are scheduled for 24 October, followed by literacy and quantitative reasoning assessments on 25 October.
Once the selection stage is complete, EMIS will generate a merit-based ranking list. This will take into account assessment scores, status as a subsistence allowance recipient within the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families, and prior educational qualifications.
Applicants who select multiple programmes must log in to the portal between 11 and 13 November to confirm their final choice among the programmes for which they secured admission.
