Registration open for Georgia’s state substitution treatment program for opioid dependence
Registration for inclusion in Georgia’s state substitution treatment program for opioid dependence has officially begun, the Ministry of Health reported.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to complete the registration process between August 4 and August 11.
Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze emphasised that the registration has been designed to be as straightforward as possible, ensuring that individuals can easily transition into the state-supported program.
“We have made every effort to simplify the registration process while providing comprehensive information for each applicant. Gathering this information is essential, as it allows us to plan treatment effectively and in the best interest of the beneficiary,” Sarjveladze explained.
“If individuals accessed services for a fee before, starting August 15, once they are enrolled in the state substitution treatment program, these services will become free. This marks the beginning of a carefully coordinated treatment plan. I sincerely hope that each person will find the strength to accept the support offered by the state, to become as independent as possible and to break free from dependence on drugs. Achieving this goal is within reach for everyone,” he added.
According to the Ministry, registration is available online or at the territorial unit of the Mental Health and Drug Abuse Prevention Centre every day, except Sunday, from 15:00 to 18:00. The hotline is: 032 230 10 53.
