Rally participants unblock Rustaveli Avenue roadway following MIA statement

Participants of the Rustaveli Avenue rally, who blocked the traffic, cleared the roadway following a statement of alert from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The MIA warned the protesters that their number was insufficient and that they kept the road closed artificially, saying they would apply appropriate measures based on the newly activated Law on Assembly and Manifestations.

The MIA gave 15 minutes to clear the roadway; otherwise, the police would act within the mandate granted by the law.

Law enforcers at the site also called on the rally participants to open the road. The protesters obeyed and moved to the pedestrian area in front of the parliament building.
