Rally demanding investigation into first president's death case held outside parliament

The rally demanding investigation into death case of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, First President of Independent Georgia, was held outside parliament’s building. The protesters launched collection of signatures.

“Under the regime of Ivanishvili (former PM), we do not have any hope that the truth will be established in this case, accordingly, the family is going to appeal to the European Court in the nearest future,”- Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, said.

He said investigative bodies had not investigated the murder case and some witnesses had been interrogated during past years.  “The investigative body just gets the information and does not ask any counter questions to these witnesses. We see a full inactivity of the prosecutor’s office, its complete inconvenience in this case. They do not have the will to establish the truth,” Gamsakhurdia said.

Georgia’s First President Zviad Gamsakhurdia would have turned 79 today.
