The National Environmental Agency has warned the public about the weather conditions expected in Georgia over the coming days.
According to forecasters, from January 9 through the morning of January 10, rain is expected in western Georgia, with heavy rainfall in some areas. Thunderstorms and strong winds may accompany the weather, while storm surges of 3–4 points are possible at sea.
The Agency also reports that snow is expected in the country’s high mountainous regions, with heavy snowfall in some areas, along with fog, blizzards, and an increased risk of avalanches.
“Due to heavy snowfall, blizzards, poor visibility, icy road conditions, and avalanche danger, traffic may be restricted on certain sections of roads. The expected precipitation may significantly raise water levels in rivers in western Georgia and, in hilly and mountainous areas, trigger or activate landslides and mudflows. The danger level is assessed as medium,” the National Environmental Agency said in a statement.
