Georgian Public Ombudsman Levan Ioseliani stated that the convening of parliament was legitimate under Article 38 of the Constitution, which mandates that parliament must convene within 10 days following the publication of the electoral summary report.

“All other articles, provisions, and even a constitutional lawsuit cannot take precedence over this constitutional requirement that parliament convene no later than 10 days. What occurred was entirely legitimate,” he asserted.

“I want to emphasize that neither regulations nor any other legal documents hold higher hierarchical importance than the Constitution. Any other matters are subject to discussion. The Constitutional Court will consider the lawsuit and reach a decision; however, that will not affect the legitimacy of the convening,” he added.

The 11th Convocation Parliament held its inaugural session on November 25.
