Prosecutor's Office charges two individuals for assault on police officers

The Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office has indicted two individuals for their assault on police officers during protests on Rustaveli Avenue.

According to a report from the Prosecutor’s Office, based on an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the indicted individuals attacked Special Task Force officers stationed on Chichinadze Street during the early hours of December 1. They threw Molotov cocktails in the officers’ direction, resulting in a fire that damaged a water cannon vehicle.

Law enforcement officials apprehended the suspects on December 2. They face imprisonment ranging from four to seven years. The investigation is ongoing under Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The Prosecutor’s Office will petition Tbilisi City Court to impose punitive measures on the indicted individuals within the stipulated timeframe.
