The National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia said in a statement that information circulating on social media claiming the wall paintings at Ubisa Monastery have deteriorated is false and intended to deliberately mislead the public.

The agency noted that its specialists conduct systematic monitoring of the monastery’s wall paintings.

“Following the circulation of information and photographs concerning the wall paintings at Ubisa Monastery on social media, agency specialists carried out additional monitoring at the monastery. The inspection established that, apart from the damage already present, no new signs of deterioration have been identified.
