The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged one individual with premeditated murder and another with failing to report a crime in connection with a fatal accident at Rati’s Bar in Tbilisi.
“The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on May 11, at around 05:30, the primary suspect fatally stabbed the victim multiple times at Rati’s Bar on Baratashvili Street. The victim died at the scene due to the injuries sustained. A second individual, who witnessed the incident and was aware that a premeditated murder had occurred, failed to report it to the authorities. Both suspects were arrested on the same day. The alleged perpetrator was charged under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder with hooligan intent), which carries a sentence of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment. The second individual was charged under Article 376, Part 2 (failure to report a crime), punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated that it will seek pretrial detention for both defendants within the legally prescribed timeframe.
