PM, President, Mayor attend event marking Nona Gaprindashvili’s 85th birthday

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and members of the government of the country attended an event dedicated to the 85th birthday of legendary Georgian chess player Nona Gaprindashvili, the Government Administration reported.

The Prime Minister of Georgia congratulated Nona Gaprindashvili on her anniversary.

In recognition of her invaluable contribution to the development of Georgia and Georgian sport, Minister of Sports Shalva Gogoladze presented Nona Gaprindashvili with the Giorgi Nikoladze Prize, the highest distinction in Georgian sport. The legendary chess player became the first recipient of this prestigious award.

The anniversary celebration was held at the Rustaveli National Theatre and organized by the Ministry of Sports of Georgia.
