Prosecutor’s Office asks a court to place Saakashvili under house arrest

The Prosecutor’s Office asks a court to place Mikheil Saakashvili under house arrest with electronic monitoring pending trial.

The prosecution side has filed the corresponding motion with  Kyiv’s  District Court.

“Mikheil Saakashvili will be able to participate remotely in peaceful protests during two months and engage in planned activities via social networks,” – the prosecutor said during the court session.

The defense side requests Saakashvili’s released from the courtroom on bail.

The decision of judge is unknown yet

According to Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office  Mikheil Saakashvili is suspected of committing the crime which is envisaged in the first part of the 15th article of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (criminal attempt), second part of the 28th article (criminal offense committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy) and second part of the 256th article (assistance to members of criminal organizations and covering up of their criminal activity). Saakashvili rejects the accusations.

Mikheil Saakashvili  was arrested on December 8 in Kyiv.
