President Zourabichvili, other opponents of Assembly Law bill support revolution, we remain committed to peace, GD Chair says

Those who protest against the Assembly Law draft admit to seeking a revolution in the country, Irakli Kobakhidze, the ruling Georgian Dream party chair, stated, referring to the amendments to the Law on Assemblies and Manifestations.

He stressed the ruling team’s commitment to peace.

“Recall Akerman’s Canvas training. There were the attempted revolutions in July and March preceding that. Individuals opposing or who have opposed the bill are supporters of a revolutionary scenario. Salome Zourabichvili has already declared her support for the revolution. Those against the proposed law may be seen as advocating for a revolution in this country, but our aim is peace. We are committed to doing everything to ensure peace, and this draft law is intended to contribute to that goal,” Kobakhidze said.

On October 17, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili vetoed the amendments to the Law on Assemblies and Manifestations, deeming it “another anti-European law.”
