President: Russia should return to its borders

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili believes that through negotiations, Russia should be forced to become a state, which rejects occupying territories of other countries.

In an interview with La Chaîne Info (LCI), a French free-to-air news channel, Salome Zourabichvili said that negotiations should also evolve around Georgia’s two occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions and Transdnestr and that not only Ukraine would return its territories.

President noted that Georgia had cut diplomatic relations with Russia since the occupation and recognition of occupied territories.

Remarking on Georgia’s European integration path, Salome Zourabichvili said that she was “happy to see” France and Germany among strong supporters of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova recalling that these were the two countries which blocked their candidacies in NATO in Bucharest.

“A very long way has already been passed, which is the end of blindness. I think there is a clearer vision of where the challenges are and what cannot be tolerated. This actually opened up this enlargement way for these countries. I believe this is a very big step forward,” Zourabichvili stated.
